A city centre coffee chain has lodged plans for outdoor seating.
Starbucks has submitted proposals to Aberdeen City Council for a change of use of the pavement outside its Upperkirkgate branch to provide external seating.
The application seeks permission for a number of tables and chairs on the site.
Planning documents state: “The area around the premises has been subject to significant highway and public realm improvements which include the widening of the pavement in front of the unit and which have served to enhance the appearance of the area and provide opportunities for external seating which did not formerly exist.”
The proposals adds: “It is proposed to site four tables and 16 chairs in this area which will be positioned away from the main entrance and flush to the shop front.
“It is felt that the use of the site for external seating will be appropriate and can be accommodated without harm to the amenity of neighbouring residents or other occupiers.”
Under the plans, the external seating would be in operation between 7am and 7pm Monday to Friday, 7.15am to 7pm on Saturdays and 8.45am to 6.30pm on Sundays.
