I remember when I was younger listening to my parents playing Beatles albums on their record player.
I loved hearing stories about Beatlemania, the crazy rock fans of the sixties who adored the Fab Four.
Last night many who remembered those days took a big step back down memory lane to watch Let it Be at HMT.
The show is more of a concert than a musical and dressed in their slick black suits they opened the show with classics, She Loves You and I Wanna Hold Your Hand.
Vintage television screens show actual footage from Beatles concerts, some very funny adverts and even some of the audience so beware!
The four musicians are uber talented and do have the look and mannerisms of Paul (Emanuelle Angeletti), George (John Brosnan), Ringo (Ben Cullingworth) and John (Richard Jordan).
They portrayed the different eras really well, with slick costume changes and changing hairstyles. The staging is simple and lets the music do the talking, while clever lighting and dry ice add to the live concert atmosphere.
There is quite a bit of audience participation with several sing-a-longs and dance opportunities and the crowd lapped it up.
With more than 40 songs they come thick and fast so there isn’t much time for chat between them.
With a shout out from John “Have you enjoyed the reunion?” and a finale of Let it Be and Hey Jude, the appreciative crowd were all singing and dancing along. A great atmosphere for a Monday night in Aberdeen. If you’re a fan, the show runs until Saturday.
