Opening date for zero waste shop and cafe in Aberdeenshire announced

The opening date for an Aberdeenshire zero waste shop and cafe has been revealed.
The Butterfly Effect in Insch on Commerce Street will open on Saturday August 10 from 10am to 3pm.
Owned by Lauren Brook, the shop, refillery and cafe will serve up drinks including teas, coffees and cold drinks at the opening, as well as home bakes from baker Melanie McEwan who runs Cake You Happy.
Once fully operational, the cafe will also offer lunch and a variety of cakes from Monday August 12.
Customers can enjoy purchasing dried goods and household items all plastic free at the refillery, and Lauren will be on-hand to help those looking to use the measuring and weighing stations for the first time.
Outside will boast an enclosed (gated) seating area which will be equipped with a mud kitchen and sand pit to keep the little ones entertained.
Products that will be stocked include refillable dried goods, affordable and plastic-free nuts, seeds, grains, pulses and beans. Household goods such as washing up liquid, hand soap, laundry liquid and conditioner, naked soaps, hair shampoo bars and toothpaste tablets will also be on offer.
The firm encourages customers to take their own containers and bags to refill their goods, however, there will be glass jars and biodegradable and compostable brown bags to use.
Glass bottles of milk will also be stocked (and can be refilled) using locally sourced produce.
