Olly Murs is showing all the right moves by announcing he will kick off his UK tour in Aberdeen.
The popular singer, who has just released his boisterous single Moves featuring Snoop Dogg, will play the AECC on May 1 next year.
It will be the opening gig of a 16-date arena tour – including two nights at London’s O2 – on the back of his new album You Know I Know due to be released on Tuesday (November 9).
Louise Stewart, head of entertainment, exhibitions and marketing at the AECC said: “We are really pleased to have Olly back at AECC for this indoor show next year.
“His Aberdeen fans will be delighted to be the first to see Olly perform for his 2019 tour. He always gets the crowd going and gives us a great night of entertainment.”
The singer played the AECC last year in a specially-built outdoor arena, delighting 16,000 lucky fans.
At the time, Olly said: “I love singing and performing. It is what I was born to do and I feel very lucky that I have been given the chance to do this.
“I want to continue enjoying it and as long as I am happy, that is the most important thing, too.”
Olly will obviously be keeping his fans happy, too. The single Moves, penned by Ed Sheeran, has already been praised for its swagger and described as one of the catchiest tunes of the year.
There will no doubt be more of the same on the forthcoming album.
You Know I Know is billed as a landmark release for Olly, who will next year mark a decade since he became a household name through The X Factor.
It’s his sixth album and will feature two discs. Olly said one will be a hits collection of “songs everyone knows”, such as Troublemaker and Heart Skips A Beat.
“And the other album is songs only I know… for now,” said Olly.
Highlights will include Feel The Same, featuring the iconic Nile Rogers on guitar and the title track, featuring Shaggy.
Olly, who is now an established judge on the popular talent show The Voice, has five multi-platinum albums to his credit, four of them topping the UK charts.
With more than 17.5 million followers across social media, he is the X Factor’s most successful male artist.
