New zero-waste store to open in Aberdeenshire

A north-east mother is leading the fight against climate change by launching a zero-waste store.
Kirsty Colvin, 28, has launched the venture in Ellon alongside partner Jamie Thom after struggling to find eco-friendly goods for her family.
The new store – Bare – is hoped to open before Christmas.

Kirsty said: “We tried to reduce our waste but found it difficult. There are few resources locally.
“We were buying a lot online, and after weighing up options, decided ‘why don’t we launch our own store?’”
Kirsty, mum to eight-year-old Brodie and two-year-old Findlay, added: “We’ll have a variety of items – gravity dispensers which will store dry foods, cereal, pasta, rice, seeds, herbs and spices.
“There will be unpacked snacks as well as chemical-free cleaning materials and eco-friendly toothbrushes.
“We are very excited.”
