A crowdfunding project to raise funds to open Scotland’s first cheese restaurant has raised almost £10,000 to go towards the venue.
Run by Mechelle Clark, owner of cheese toastie takeaway shop Melt on Holburn Street, the new venture, Melt 2 is anticipated to open in time for Christmas.
Hoping to raise £25,000, the final total raised by hungry cheese lovers amounted at just under £10,000.
The 283 backers raised £9,720 between them, grabbing up incentives as a thank you for their donations.
Located on Belmont Street, the new venue will seat around 60 – 70 people and will see the casual dining restaurant feature a well-rounded menu which caters to all cheese lovers.
Of the pledges 196 cheese lovers pledged £20 to be a part of the Melt gang, 50 donated £50 for freebies and brownies, while four people pledged £250 for a meal for five people in the restaurant.
