A spooky-themed city pub could be getting a swanky revamp – moving away from its Dracula-inspired roots.
Plans have been lodged to turn Slains Castle on Belmont Street, part of the Stonegate Pub Company, into a Slug and Lettuce branch.
It will boast an upmarket, cosmopolitan feel instead of it’s well known blood-splattered walls and bookcases doubling as toilet doors.
A spokeswoman for the company confirmed the plans, but did not comment any further.
Also owned by Stonegate, the Slug and Lettuce boasts “cocktails, boozy brunches” and “ladies lunches”.
Proposals have been lodged with Aberdeen City Council to change the exterior signs on the popular night spot, as well as the addition of two menu boxes.
City centre improvement district Aberdeen Inspired has backed the plans, with night-time economy manager Nicola Johnston praising the “significant investment” it will bring to the city centre, as well as the extra footfall Belmont Street would see as a result.
