Spring is here and for many of us, it’s a time for a new look. Thankfully the team at Lash and Lush is here to give you some pointers on how you can look – and feel – your absolute best.
One of the newest beauty salons in the city, Lash and Lush has already created a reputation for great service in a welcoming and friendly environment. The qualified and experienced team, focusing on eyebrows, eyelashes, nails and hair removal (facial, body and intimate waxing) have a wealth of knowledge and they have given their advice on how to get a fresh new look.
From weekend lashes to longer lasting extensions, it’s easier than ever to get long, voluminous lashes that will make you stand out from the crowd.
Co-owner Jenna Young, said: “The weekend lashes are great for people looking to create a look for a one-off event, like a party or wedding.
“Then we have our cluster lashes and individual lashes – we can do one to one, all the way up to one to six, depending on how dramatic and full you want them to be.
“We can even do bridge building on people who don’t have a lot of their own lashes. It’s similar to bridging teeth – we can put multiple extensions onto fewer lashes.”
Extensions are also great for people with short or curly lashes – or for those who don’t have the time to apply mascara every day.
“We get lots of older women or people with glasses getting eyelash extensions, and once you have them you can get in-fills every few weeks to maintain them.”
Lash and Lush offers a special brow and lash deal – you can get classic one-to-one lashes plus henna brows for £50 – nearly a third off the price of the treatments individually.
They also offer LVL Lashes – this is almost a perm for your lashes, lifting them from the root to give the longer look. If you have a fear of using curlers on yourself, this treatment gives eyelashes a lift, making the eye look more open and showing off your beautiful eyes.
The great thing is that there is plenty you can do with your eyebrows – threading, waxing, tinting and henna colouring – depending on what you need.
Jenna explained: “We can help shape eyebrows, change the thickness of them or even change their colour.
“If you were fan of the 90s trend of super thin eyebrows, you may have growth issues that mean they are less noticeable. The henna treatment is great for this – the colour lasts on the hair for up to six weeks and up to two weeks on the skin and is all natural, so you don’t need to worry about having chemicals near your eyes.”
Jenna added that the henna brows includes mapping – the beauty therapist using the measurements of your face draws on where the eyebrows should be, filling in where needed and giving them shape.
Unwanted facial hair can cause real confidence issues – and if they are the result of hormones, there’s not much you can do other than get rid of them.
Waxing or threading rather than shaving reduces the strength of the hair when it regrows and lasts longer than many other treatments.
If your nails are brittle – or you are a ‘biter’ – then Lash and Lush’s gel extensions are a fantastic way to have long nails that last.
Jenna explained: “The gel is long lasting and more flexible than acrylic nails – it’s also a lighter product without the smell.”
But if your nails are in good condition, you can have a manicure to make them shine. Lash and Lush also does nail art, foils, glitter and caviars. Just tell them what you want and they will do it.
And they can even do gel extensions on your toes – perfect for when you are in your flip-flops!
Lash and Lush can also do special events – their princess parties have become very popular with their younger customers.
“Wee girls can come in, get a princess manicure, glitter tattoos and their makeup done. It’s great fun.”
They have also played host to pre-hen party pamper sessions and bridal parties.
Lash and Lush is open from 10am until 7pm on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and 8pm on Thursdays and Fridays. On Saturdays they open at 9am and close at 7pm and between 11am and 5pm on Sundays.
