Aberdonian rapper Ransom FA has appeared on a new TV show, giving an insider’s guide to the city.
The 11-minute show – Insider’s Guide – aired last night on BBC Scotland.
Ransom FA, who grew up in the city and attended Aberdeen Grammar School, hailed the area for its positive changes over the past few years.
Aberdeen’s Tex-Mex firm FreshMex, Siberia Bar and Hotel, footwear and clothing shop Hanon, Preloved Labels and Aberdeen Football Club all featured in his tour of the Granite City.
The rapper paid a visit to Hanon, one of his favourite stores, first. Expressing his passion for the shop he said he “personally loves it” due to it building up its reputation over the eight years he has been shopping there.
His next stop was to FreshMex on Schoolhill – the show was filmed before a fire at the restaurant – to grab a bite to eat. He ordered a Cali Burrito and said he’d been visiting the eatery for more than a year now.
“Personally I love spicy food and I know when I come here I can get something spicy, something with a kick,” he said.
Taking the cameraman around Broad Street and Castlegate where he then stopped to enjoy a buttery.
He then popped in to Preloved Labels on The Green, showing some of the best pre-loved garments in the city.
Aberdeen Football Club was, of course, on the list of places to visit due to the influence the club has had on his music.
He said: “I use ‘stand free’ which is the same as the football team and I’ve Incorporated it in the music. I like the meaning of it.”
Ending the show on a high, he took a trip to Siberia Bar and Hotel on Belmont Street to catch up with some of his friends.
