Julia Wishart takes her Wee Wine Club’s members on a fun ride with delicious wine to drink along the way.
Check out how she got on in our round of quickfire questions below.
What’s your customer icebreaker on Zoom?
Let’s see those pyjama bottoms.
It’s the end of your working day – what do you pour yourself?
A cool, crisp Tennent’s Lager – there’s no better thirst quencher on the planet.
If you were a drink, what would you be?
A super dry gin martini because it’s uncomplicated and boozy.
Most unusual customer request?
Gin and diet coke…why?
What would the theme song to your average working day be?
At the moment, all that goes round my head while I fill up sample bottles is Red Red Wine by UB40.
What’s in your drinks cabinet at home?
Absolutely everything! Gin – Esker, of course; bourbon; and plenty of tequila. I have some lovely champagne chilling in the fridge for Christmas Day from Berry Brothers & Rudd, as well as a very unusual Pet Nat from Italy which is a natural sparkling wine – the next big thing I reckon!
Best food and drink pairing?
Sangiovese and pizza.
If you were stuck on a desert island what three drinks are there with you?
Do I have a fridge? If so, it would be a bottle of Alsace Riesling, an Austrian Grüner Veltliner and a case of Tennent’s Lager.
You have to make a drink to represent Aberdeen. What would that be?
I would pour a nice glass of Bourgogne Rouge. It is fireside wine weather in Aberdeen at the moment and I hope this would warm everyone up. It would also go nicely with turkey.
Your favourite superhero/celebrity is sitting at the bar. Who is it and what do you serve them?
Lauren Laverne from Radio Six. I think we would skip the wine and get straight on the beers and tequila.
