Award-winning and hugely popular comedian David O’Doherty is making a return trip to Aberdeen’s Tivoli Theatre.
The Irish funnyman – who sold out the Guild Street venue on his last visit as part of the Aberdeen International Comedy Festival in 2018 – will arrive with his new show on Thursday September 24 next year.
Tickets for Whoa Is Me are expected to be snapped up when they go on sale tomorrow (Friday December 13).
Doug Taylor, of local promoter Mint Of Montrose, is delighted to be bringing David back to the Granite City.
He said: “We’re super excited to have David returning to the Tivoli Theatre with his brand new show. He is one of our very favourite comedians and we know from his previous visits how much Aberdeen audiences love him and his glued together plastic keyboard”
David was first nominated for best newcomer at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2000 for his show The Story of the Boy Who Saved Comedy and went on to win the main Edinburgh Comedy Award in 2008 for Let’s Comedy.
He has returned to the festival every year since then, receiving widespread acclaim from both audiences and critics. He has also toured the UK and Ireland a number of times, including a sell-out show at London’s iconic Hackney Empire.
His many television appearances include Live At The Apollo, 8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown, Would I Lie To You? and The Alternative Comedy Experience. He has also previously been a guest on and hosted Never Mind The Buzzcocks and made appearances on shows such as QI, Dave’s One Night Stand and Have I Got News For You.
David is also a successful author. He published his first book, a children’s title called Ronan Long Gets It Wrong, in 2000. His next two books were 100 Facts About Pandas and 100 Facts About Sharks, written in conjunction with Mike Ahern and Claudia O’Doherty. He wrote another children’s title called Danger Is Everywhere in 2014 and this was followed up by sequel Danger Is Still Everywhere, which was nominated for the Scholastic Laugh Out Loud Book Award 2016. A third instalment, Danger Really Is Everywhere: SCHOOL OF DANGER, was released in October 2016.
He has also performed at comedy festivals around the world, including Melbourne, Montreal and New York.
