Situated in the stunning coastal town of Stonehaven is Stewart Milne’s new Aberdeenshire development.
Dunnottar Park offers a range of two, three, four and five-bedroom homes which have all been designed with family living at the forefront, as well as luxury and high quality – which is apparent in all Stewart Milne homes. The development is located near the A90 and the newly-opened AWPR, meaning it is ideally situated for those who venture into Aberdeen frequently. A variety of local amenities are close by, too.
A stylish new show home, the Glenmore is a four-bedroom detached property boasting plenty of space both inside and outside. With an integral single garage, the property also offers a landscaped garden and a driveway which has space for more than one car.
Arlene Ogston of Creative Interiors was responsible for the interior design of the showhome and worked alongside her colleague Margaret Forest to transform the house into a home.
The Westhill-based design firm not only knows the area well, but is also in tune with what’s trending in the area, making this property extremely appealing to those in the north-east.
Throughout the Glenmore are shades of grey and champagne with pops of colour present in every room to add depth and different elements.
Arlene said: “We wanted to keep silver, white and champagne tones with some mink and flashes of colour. We added the yellow in the kitchen and lounge to add a bright pop there and we did the same with various other colours upstairs.
“Interiors generally follow fashion trends. You’ll see colours and ideas on the catwalk and shortly afterwards see them in the interior world – so yellow has been very popular.”
Continuing with subtle yellow hues throughout, feature wallpapers also play a large part in the home’s interior appeal, especially within the spacious family kitchen and dining area.
Located at the rear of the house, the kitchen features a number of high specification appliances and overlooks the garden. A utility room can also be found at the back of the home.
Arlene said: “It’s important to keep the interiors interesting so the wallpapers throughout this show home really do this.
“We introduced almost a tropical theme, although it’s extremely subtle. There’s things that nod to it, like the kitchen’s pineapple wallpaper and the leopard print wallpaper in the downstairs bathroom at the front of the house. There’s also a panther ornament at the bottom of the stairs.
“The Matthew Williamson wallpaper in the master bedroom’s en-suite with the jewel colours is amazing. It’s those gorgeous sapphires, teals and amethyst colours and they’re very popular just now.”
Venturing upstairs, bursts of colour can be found in all four bedrooms with the additions of intricate artwork, pillows, lighting and decorative accessories.
Adding colour with accessories like lampshades and cushions is a great way to bring some texture into a room, said Arlene.
“You don’t want the colours to overpower the underlying base tones so running with the silver and grey theme throughout and just adding different colours has worked really well.”
However, it’s not just statement wallpapers that are big at the moment – mirrored effect furniture is also still as popular as ever.
She said: “Having the mirrored furniture in the master bedroom and the dining room gives a luxurious finish to the rooms and makes them feel very adult. It’s very trendy just now and we’ve teamed it with other materials and metal finishes to just round the whole house off.
“In the dining room it’s a bit more atmospheric and dramatic with the black, bronze and copper tones coming through with the wallpaper. That’s reflected with the black round wooden dining table and chairs. The velvet drape curtains just add a bit of luxury, as does the mirrored furniture.
“It’s very elegant and a great way to channel some additional light into your home.”
Stonehaven is a beautiful spot – popular with tourists – and the ideal place for families to settle down. It is hard to resist the coastal town’s incredible views and stunning walks close by, not to mention the impressive, historical Dunnottar Castle.
As well as various local amenities, residents also benefit from a number of schools in the area including Dunnottar School, Arduthie School, Mill O’Forest School and Mackie Academy.
There are also a number of local bars, restaurants and shops to enjoy, making Stonehaven the perfect place to call home.
Prices at Dunnottar Park start from £254,995 for a three-bedroom Argyll and the Glenmore is priced from £394,995.
