A city centre Italian eatery’s plans for outdoor seating have been knocked back.
DRG restaurant group, the company behind Amarone on Union Street, had requested permission for a seating area outside the restaurant.
However the application has now been refused.
The decision notice stated: “The proposed development would cause conflict with an existing bus stop/shelter directly to the east of the site, thereby creating a pinch point of available footpath corridor along Union Street. This would create safety concerns for pedestrians contrary to the provisions of the Aberdeen Local Development Plan 2017 and supplementary guidance on harmony of uses.”
The initial planning application had said: “The proposed development is to allow patrons to enjoy al fresco eating and part dining external to the existing established restaurant to form an extended licensed area.”
