An Aberdeen bar has made the shortlist of a national magazine’s food and drink awards.
Cocktail bar Orchid, on Langstane Place, has been recognised in British GQ’s Food and Drink Awards 2019 in the UK Best Bar category.
The bar sits alongside five other bars who are also finalists in the category. Orchid is the only Scottish bar to receive recognition in the awards.
Judges include renowned chef and restaurateur James Atherton, Pippa Guy who is highly respected in the cocktail industry, Oliver Peyton, founder of hospitality group Peyton and Byrne and more.

Ben Iravani, owner of the bar, said: “When we opened Orchid in 2009, it was always our goal to be part of the global cocktail scene and put Aberdeen on the map with a venue that provides world-class cocktails.
“This recognition alongside some of London’s top bars is a testament to the hard work that the team put in to make this happen.”
