Six°north is one of Aberdeen’s busiest craft beer bars – and is the place to go if you love Belgian beer.
Heading down to the Littlejohn Street venue, we popped in to put bar manager Sam Pitt through our round of quick fire questions.
See how he got on below…
What’s your customer icebreaker?
It’s usually my dog Baz that greets people at the bar, and then I’ll pour them a pint once he’s calmed down a bit.
It’s the end of your shift – what do you pour yourself?
It depends on how I’m feeling that day or what I fancy. I’d probably have a pecan and maple stout.
If you were a drink, what would you be and why?
A whisky sour, simply because I love them.
What is your strangest drink request?
I once had someone ask me for a cement shot, which is Baileys and Sambuca stirred in a shot glass until it congeals. He ended up ordering about 15 of them.
What would the theme song to your average shift be?
Dancing in the Dark by Bruce Springsteen, just because it’s one of my all-time favourites.
What’s in your drinks cabinet at home?
I wish I was fancy enough to have my own drinks cabinet. But I do have a wide range of whisky, beer and European liqueurs on top of my fridge, which I’ll get through eventually.
Best food and drink pairing?
Smoke & Soul’s pulled pork and Bombini honey beer, they taste perfect together.
If you were stuck on a desert island, what three drinks are there with you?
A bottle of refreshing sour beer – Cantillon – a really smoky Islay whisky and an Irn-Bru.
You have to make a drink to represent Aberdeen. What would that be?
Probably something that combines a variety of different ingredients that work well together.
Your favourite superhero/celebrity is sitting at the bar. Who is it and what do you serve them?
Mark and Jezz from Peep Show. There was an episode where Jeremy had to make a cocktail, which was rum, water, vinegar, lettuce and salt. I’d serve them that because his reaction when he drinks it on the show is priceless.
