An Aberdeen hairdresser is to host a virtual tutorial next week.
The Gym, on Huntly Street, will run an Introduction to Afro Hair on Tuesday, June 9, at 8pm.
Lasting around an hour, the session will also include a Q&A section.
The taster tutorial is free to attend online, however, The Gym asks attendees to make a donation, if they can, to any Black Lives Matter charities.
To attend, message The Gym here.

Following years of personal progression and a whole lot of passion, I was invited to talk to college lecturers about a subject that's often hugely underrepresented in the hairdressing curriculum. Over the past couple of days, I've been looking at how I could use that knowledge and share it! Today, we want to invite you to our introduction to afro hair. Our online taster session will be held on Zoom by Amy, who has 20 years' experience with braids, weaves, relaxing, nourishing natural textures and more, as well as over 10 years' experience in education. There's so many resources online to educate yourself, and we've been taking so much of that in over the last few days, but this is one way that we can stand up and support the black community and the black lives matter movement and spread inclusivity in our little part of the industry. This course is a completely free taster session taking place on Tuesday 9th June at 8pm and will last 1 hour with a Q+A session at the end. We won't be charging for this, but we do ask that if possible you can donate something to the various funds available at the moment. Message us if you would like to join!
