Aberdeen barber shortlisted for five major awards

Sovereign Grooming and its barbers have been shortlisted for five major Scottish Hair and Beauty Awards.
The Union Street salon is one of five Scottish establishments in the running for Barbershop of the Year at the SHABA awards.
Three Sovereign barbers – Megan Stockford, Nathan Robb and Jamie Taylor – have been shortlisted for individual titles.
The business is also in the running for the Best Social Media prize.
Managing Director, Kyle Ross, said: “2020 has been a tough year, but it’s great to round it off with some good news and some national recognition for our dedicated team.”
Megan Stockford – who was named Colourist of the Year at last year’s SHABA Awards – will get the chance to defend her title at next year’s ceremony.
Nathan Robb – a graduate of the Sovereign Grooming Apprenticeship Scheme – has been shortlisted in the Best Wet Shave category for the second year running.
Jamie Taylor – who has just completed his Sovereign apprenticeship – is one of the barbers vying for the Apprentice of the Year title.
Sovereign founder Kyle is also currently shortlisted for two major UK hair industry awards.
For the second year running, the businessman has been named one of five finalists in the ‘Entrepreneur’ category of the delayed Creative HEAD IT List awards.
He is also one of the finalists in the ‘Business Thinker’ category of the Most Wanted Awards, held on the same night. The ceremony will be held in 2021 once the current restrictions are lifted.
