Organisers of a north-east charity dance contest have revealed the event’s new celebrity judge.
Strictly Come Dancing star and This Morning presenter Alison Hammond will step into Gok Wan’s shoes to rate the contestants taking part in Strictly Come Prancing.
Wan was due to join the panel of the contest, taking place at the Ardoe House Hotel on March 30 to raise cash for Banchory-based Forget Me Not Club, but he had to pull out due to filming for TV show Say Yes to the Dress.
The club provides support and activities for those who live with dementia, their families and carers. During the dance event, 10 couples, who have been taking lessons for seven weeks, will take to the floor.
Lesley Fletcher, development manager at the Forget Me Not Club, said: “We are thrilled Alison has stepped in to replace Gok Wan, who has unfortunately had to pull out due to his TV commitments. As well as being hilarious and larger than life, Alison knows only too well what our contestants are going through, having taken part in Strictly Come Dancing herself.”
