A classic musical production will be staged at a Victorian city park.
Aberdeen City Council, in partnership with BP and the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, will host a dramatic opera in Duthie Park, with a live production of the classic Carmen as part of this summer’s BP Big Screen programme.
Carmen is the best-known work by French composer Georges Bizet, and one of the most famous operas.
The story follows a young soldier, Don Jose, who intends to marry a girl from his home village.
But when he meets Carmen, he sacrifices everything to be with her.
Carmen grows bored of Don Jose and falls in love with Escamillo which leads to a series of dramatic events and a tragic conclusion.
The event is family -friendly and people are encouraged to bring their own picnics.
It will run on July 2 from 7pm until 10.30pm.
